Leitrim has the smallest rental market in the country, mainly around Carrick-on-Shannon and Manorhamilton. Rents are among the lowest in Ireland but so is supply. Expect older rural stock, often with solid-fuel or oil heating. Verify RTB registration carefully in low-competition markets.
Since 1 March 2026, a national rent control system applies across Ireland, including Leitrim. Rent increases are capped at the lower of 2% per year or the general rate of inflation, and rent may be reviewed once every 12 months.
